Movies to Watch at Christmas

It’s that time of year! December is a great time to dust off your favorite Christmas movie, pop some popcorn, and sit back for fun!

Or, perhaps, you’re having a hard time finding a good Christmas movie; you want something new, funny, or exciting. I’m going to share with you two newer movies that I enjoy watching at Christmas (actually all year around, too). These are not in any particular order.

1. Christmas Grace, BRIGHT HORIZON PICTURES

I really like this movie. There’s no high-octane action, making it a great family movie. But it certainly isn’t boring either. Far from it. It has a great message, and a great storyline. It also has some funny scenes, so this movie is a win-win. It also has 5 of 5 doves from the Dove Foundation. Here is the official synopsis:

“Christmas Grace tells the story of two rival tory store owners over several Christmas seasons.

“One of them is Gary, a young toy store owner who runs an honest business and has a good relationship with his customers. Everything is running smooth for Gary until he hears of a new bigger store opening across the street from him.

“The owner of this larger company, Jim Tollman, is a ruthless businessman who will stop at nothing to grow his business and eliminate his competition. Since his most immediate competition happens to be Gary’s store, he sets his target on him.

“As the story unfolds, it becomes very clear that God is at work in the lives of these two men, and God’s Grace and Providence work out in ways neither one of them could have imagined.”

(Unrated)

You should definitely check this one out!

2. Saving Christmas, CAMFAM STUDIOS PRODUCTION

This movie was great! When I first saw this in the theater, I loved it. It is a great movie, and if you want a laugh as well as a good basis for the Christmas traditions, then you have to see this movie! It was very well thought out, and I found myself laughing almost silly over some of the scenes… It has 5 of 5 doves from the Dove Foundation. Perfect for all ages. Here is the official synopsis:

“Attending his sister’s annual Christmas party, Kirk Cameron discovers there is nothing worse than being around a ‘Scrooge!’ But Kirk won’t let his brother-in-law’s negative take on the season dampen his Christmas spirit. Join Kirk and dive headfirst into all of the joy, celebration, feasting, imagination, and traditions that glorify Jesus as the true ‘reason for the season.’

“Starring Kirk Cameron and his real-life sister, Bridgette Ridenour, SAVING CHRISTMAS is an engaging movie that provides your family with a biblical basis for our time-honored traditions and celebrations, including Christmas trees, St. Nicholas, and the nativity.”

Rated: PG for “Some thematic elements.”

Be sure to give this one a watch!
